Imac intel based problem!!!!?

my imac is being stuck on the apple screen with a rotating thing and i put the mac os x install disc and did the disc utility the disc utility thing said that my macintosh hd is ok and fine with green letters and i did it twice to make sure but when i restart it stays on the same gray apple screen with the rotating thing any help thanks in advance
